The Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX5, released in June 2010, was an exciting compact camera for its time. With a 10.2 MP BSI-CMOS sensor and 10x optical zoom (25-250mm equivalent), it provided excellent flexibility for capturing wide-angle shots and zooming in on distant subjects. It was one of the first point-and-shoot cameras to offer features like Full HD 1080p video recording and GPS with a compass for geo-tagging photos, making it perfect for travel enthusiasts.
The HX5 also featured optical image stabilization, making handheld shots and low-light photography easier to manage, even for beginners. It supported both Memory Stick PRO Duo and SD/SDHC cards for storage, offering versatility for photographers who preferred different memory formats.
For its time, the HX5 stood out with its mix of advanced features like Intelligent Sweep Panorama Mode, which allowed users to easily capture panoramic images with a simple sweep of the camera. Its hand-held twilight mode, which took multiple rapid shots and combined them to reduce noise in low-light situations, was revolutionary for casual photographers
