Terms of service
Terms and Conditions
Retro Cameras Ireland
These terms apply to purchases and bookings made through www.retrocameras.ie.
1. Products and Condition
We sell new and pre-owned cameras, photographic equipment, film and related products.
Vintage and second-hand items may show signs of age and previous use. We aim to describe their condition accurately, including any known faults or significant imperfections.
Please read the product description and examine the photographs before purchasing. Any limitations or defects disclosed before purchase form part of the product's description.
All products are covered by your statutory consumer rights.
2. Payment and Delivery
Payment is taken securely through the payment methods available at checkout.
We aim to dispatch orders within 1–2 working days.
Standard postage within Ireland costs €11. Product orders of €100 or more qualify for free shipping within Ireland.
Delivery normally takes 2–3 working days after dispatch, although this may vary.
If your order is delayed, lost or damaged in transit, please contact us. Your statutory rights remain unaffected.
3. Our 30-Day Money-Back Guarantee
All used cameras and electronic equipment come with a 30-day money-back guarantee from the date of delivery.
If your camera or equipment develops a functional fault during normal use within 30 days, contact us at info@retrocameras.ie.
We will arrange for the item to be returned at our expense and provide a full refund. You do not have to accept a repair or replacement instead.
The guarantee does not cover accidental damage, misuse or faults that were clearly disclosed and specifically accepted before purchase.
This guarantee is in addition to your statutory rights. If a problem arises after 30 days, you may still be entitled to a repair, replacement, refund or another remedy under Irish consumer law.
4. Returns and Cancellations
For most products purchased online, you have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving it, without giving a reason.
You can notify us of your decision to cancel by emailing info@retrocameras.ie within the 14-day cancellation period. You then have a further 14 days to return the item.
For change-of-mind returns, you are responsible for return postage. You may inspect an item as you would in a shop, but we may make a deduction for any reduction in value caused by handling beyond what is necessary to inspect it.
We will refund the purchase price and applicable standard delivery charges using your original payment method. Refunds will be made within 14 days of cancellation, although we may wait until we receive the returned goods or proof that they have been sent back.
If an item is faulty, damaged on arrival or not as described, please contact us. Your statutory rights apply, and we will cover return costs where required by law.
5. Film and Consumables
We sell both fresh and expired photographic film.
Expired film may produce unpredictable results, including colour shifts, fogging or incomplete images. Its performance cannot be guaranteed, particularly where its previous storage conditions are unknown.
Please check the film's description and expiry date before purchasing.
Your statutory cancellation rights apply to film and other consumables where applicable. Products must be handled appropriately, and we may make a lawful deduction for any reduction in value caused by excessive handling.
Nothing in this section affects your rights if a product is faulty or not as described.
6. Film Developing and Digitisation Services
Original Media and Handling
We take reasonable care when handling customers' original films, video tapes, photographs and other materials.
Old media can deteriorate over time and may be fragile, damaged or impossible to recover fully. We cannot guarantee successful recovery or a particular image or recording quality where the condition of the original material prevents it.
If additional cleaning, repair or recovery work is required, we will discuss any additional charges with you before proceeding.
Cancellations and Return Postage
If you wish to cancel your digitisation order, please contact us as soon as possible.
If we have already received your original materials and you decide not to proceed with digitisation, an €11 postage charge applies if you require your materials to be returned by post.
For video tape orders, this €11 return postage charge is normally paid when booking. If you cancel after sending us your tapes, the prepaid postage will be used to return them, and no additional postage charge will apply.
If you cancel your order without ever sending us your original materials, any unused return postage will be refunded.
If work has already begun, any cancellation charges or refunds will be handled in accordance with your statutory rights.
Returning Original Materials
Original films, tapes, photographs and other materials will be returned as agreed with the customer.
We take reasonable care when packaging original materials for return.
Once a parcel has been accepted by our chosen delivery service provider, its transportation and delivery are handled by that provider.
If your parcel is delayed, lost or damaged in transit, please contact us. We will assist with tracking, enquiries and any applicable delivery claim.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any responsibility we may have under applicable law.
Digital File Retention
We retain copies of completed digitisation files for at least 30 days after notifying you that your order is complete, unless earlier deletion is requested and applicable.
This allows us to provide another copy if you experience difficulties accessing your files or if your returned USB or parcel is delayed or lost.
If you require another copy, please contact us as soon as possible.
After the 30-day retention period, files may be permanently deleted without further notice.
We recommend that you download your files promptly and maintain your own backup copies.
Your files will be handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy and applicable data protection legislation.
Consumer Rights
For services ordered online, statutory cancellation rights apply where applicable.
If you expressly request that work begins during the statutory cancellation period, you may be required to pay a proportionate amount for work already completed if you subsequently cancel, in accordance with applicable law.
Where a service has been fully completed with your prior express consent and acknowledgement of the loss of your cancellation right, the statutory change-of-mind cancellation right may no longer apply.
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights or our obligation to provide services with reasonable care and skill.
7. Workshops and Photography Courses
Workshop descriptions, dates, prices and booking arrangements are provided on the relevant booking page.
Any specific cancellation or rescheduling conditions will be communicated before booking. Your applicable statutory rights remain unaffected.
8. Problems With Your Order
If you experience any problem with a product or service, please contact us at:
Please include your order number and a brief description of the issue.
We will review your enquiry and deal with it promptly.
9. Consumer Rights and Governing Law
These terms are governed by Irish law.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or reduces any rights or remedies available to consumers under applicable consumer protection legislation, including the Consumer Rights Act 2022.
Where any provision of these terms conflicts with mandatory consumer law, the applicable law takes precedence.
Your statutory rights are not affected.
