Returns and Refunds Policy

Retro Cameras Ireland

We want you to be happy with your purchase. If you experience a problem with an order or wish to arrange a return, please contact us at info@retrocameras.ie.

This policy applies to purchases and service bookings made through www.retrocameras.ie.

1. Our 30-Day Money-Back Guarantee

All used cameras and electronic equipment come with a 30-day money-back guarantee from the date of delivery.

If your camera or equipment develops a functional fault during normal use within 30 days, contact us to arrange a return.

We will cover the return postage and provide a full refund. You do not have to accept a repair or replacement instead.

The guarantee does not cover accidental damage, misuse or faults that were clearly disclosed and specifically accepted before purchase.

This guarantee does not limit your statutory rights. You may still be entitled to a repair, replacement, refund or another remedy if a problem arises after 30 days.

2. Change-of-Mind Returns

For most products purchased online, you have the right to cancel your order within 14 days of receiving it, without giving a reason.

To cancel, notify us by emailing info@retrocameras.ie within the 14-day cancellation period.

You then have a further 14 days to return the item.

For change-of-mind returns:

  • You are responsible for the cost of return postage.
  • Please take reasonable care of the item while it is in your possession.
  • You may inspect the item as you would in a shop.
  • We may make a lawful deduction for any reduction in value caused by handling beyond what is necessary to inspect the item.

Your statutory cancellation rights apply to all eligible products, including second-hand equipment.

3. Faulty, Damaged or Incorrect Items

If an item arrives damaged, develops a fault or is not as described, please contact us at info@retrocameras.ie.

Include your order number and a brief description of the problem. Photographs may help us resolve the issue more quickly.

Where an item is faulty or does not meet the requirements of Irish consumer law, we will provide the appropriate remedy, which may include a repair, replacement, refund or price reduction.

We will cover reasonable return costs where required by law.

Your statutory rights apply regardless of whether the product is new, second-hand or sold at a reduced price.

4. Film and Consumables

We sell fresh and expired photographic film, photo paper and related consumables.

Expired film may produce unpredictable results due to its age and previous storage conditions. Please check the product description and expiry date before purchasing.

Your statutory cancellation rights apply to eligible film and consumables.

We may make a lawful deduction for any reduction in value caused by handling beyond what is necessary to inspect the product.

Nothing in this policy affects your rights if a product is faulty or not as described.

5. Digitisation and Film Developing Services

Cancelling Before Work Begins

If you wish to cancel a digitisation or film developing order, please contact us as soon as possible.

If you cancel before sending us your original materials and no work has begun, we will refund your payment, including any unused prepaid return postage, in accordance with your statutory rights.

If we have already received your original materials and you decide not to proceed, an €11 postage charge applies if you require your materials to be returned by post, subject to your applicable statutory rights.

For video tape orders, the €11 return postage charge is normally paid when booking. If you cancel after sending us your tapes, this prepaid postage will be used to return them, and no additional return postage charge will apply.

If no postal return is required, any unused prepaid return postage will be refunded where applicable.

Cancelling After Work Has Started

For services booked online, the statutory cancellation period is generally 14 days from the date of booking.

If you expressly request that work begins during this period and subsequently cancel, you may be required to pay a proportionate amount for work already completed, in accordance with Irish consumer law.

If the service has been fully completed with your prior express consent and acknowledgement that you will lose your cancellation right upon completion, the statutory change-of-mind cancellation right may no longer apply.

Any refunds will be calculated in accordance with your statutory rights.

Problems With Digitisation Services

We take reasonable care when handling and digitising customers' original materials.

Old tapes, films and photographs can deteriorate over time. Their condition may affect the quality of the final result or make recovery impossible.

We cannot guarantee successful recovery where the condition of the original material prevents it.

If you believe that a service has not been carried out with reasonable care and skill or has not been provided as agreed, please contact us.

We will review the issue and provide an appropriate remedy in accordance with your statutory rights.

Returning Original Materials

Original tapes, films, photographs and other materials will be returned as agreed with the customer.

We take reasonable care when packaging original materials for return.

Once a parcel has been accepted by our chosen delivery service provider, its transportation and delivery are handled by that provider.

If your parcel is delayed, lost or damaged in transit, please contact us. We will assist with tracking, enquiries and any applicable delivery claim.

Nothing in this policy excludes or limits any responsibility we may have under applicable law.

Digital File Retention

We retain copies of completed digitisation files for at least 30 days after notifying you that your order is complete, unless earlier deletion is requested and applicable.

If you experience difficulties accessing your files or your returned USB or parcel is delayed or lost, please contact us as soon as possible.

After the retention period, files may be permanently deleted without further notice.

We recommend downloading your files promptly and keeping your own backup copies.

6. Workshops and Photography Courses

Workshop and photography course bookings are subject to the cancellation and rescheduling conditions provided at the time of booking.

Your applicable statutory rights remain unaffected.

If you need to cancel or reschedule a booking, please contact us as soon as possible.

7. Refunds

Approved refunds will be issued to your original payment method unless you expressly agree otherwise.

For eligible change-of-mind cancellations, we will refund the purchase price and applicable standard delivery charges.

Refunds will be processed without undue delay and within 14 days of receiving your cancellation request. For goods, we may wait until we receive the returned item or evidence that it has been sent back, whichever occurs first.

Refunds for faulty goods and services will be processed within the applicable statutory time limits.

Your payment provider may require additional time to make the refunded amount available in your account.
